During dog separation anxiety training, you leave the room for a moment and return before your dog has a chance to become anxious. as with all behavior modification training, the dog must remain “sub-threshold” during the process, which means that your dog hasn’t begun to exhibit stress responses in response to the work.. Here’s a quick summary: to crate train a dog with separation anxiety, you need to go very slowly.first, only put up the crate, let him explore it and reward him showing interest. make sure to always feed his meals inside the crate and give him something to lick or chew.. A dog with true separation anxiety will excessively bark, chew, dig, destroy, and try to escape. now i know what your thinking… but my puppy cries when i leave them alone. this doesn’t mean your puppy has separation anxiety… usually, it means they haven’t been taught how to self-soothe just yet..
